The game was closer than the score indicated, the Bulldogs (14-4) only trailed 5-3 going into the bottom of the third before South Oakland (14-5) scored the next 14 runs of the game.
The win brings the Ducks all-time record to 80-80-2
Aside from RBI (9 for 28+ Dogs, to 4 for Ducks) I have better numbers for the Ducks than the over 28 Bulldogs in six more plate appearances. I don’t know what that means, you’d think with the tougher pitching, etc..So it goes.
Don’t forget to change your signs for the game tonight, BJ.
…and bring me my duck, you sons of bitches.
The Bulldogs lost to the Militia Saturday, I can’t imagine they put out the same lineup that beat the HURRICANES! the week before.
I’ve got inside info on the Bulldogs new fight song.
kind of depressing, but you can’t argue with a winner.
A South Oakland victory will put our franchise at 80-80-2 all time.
It would also be our ninth straight on-field W, as the Titans win was a forfeit.
the Ducks’ #9 is retired worn by Rob Swanger who, in three seasons, never played on a winning Ducks team.
Let’s get back to .500, and keep rolling into the battle of Monroeville this weekend.
A win also gets us recap rights on the Bulldogs site. Their blog actually gets read, so that’s huge.
The Ducks (13-5, 4-1) victory over the Matadors (8-8, ?), coupled with the forfeit win over the Titans, improved South Oakland’s all time record to 79-80-2.
A win over the Bulldogs Monday night will bring the club’s record back to .500 for the first time since 2004 when the Ducks record stood at at 7-7 after their first 14 games.
The 2010 Ducks have won nine straight since starting the season 4-5.

The Ducks added three runs in the fourth with help from the afforementioned errors:

Game. Ducks.
Quack.
Note: The Militia took the bulldogs out to the farm this morning, 14-3.
Seems like a classic let down after beating the Canes game. The Bulldogs will be looking to rebound Monday.
The Militia will be fighting for their season on the 10th.
Huge 8am divisional double header at Militia HQ on July 10th.
South Oakland won their eighth straight game to improve to 12-5 and remain in first place in the Wales Conference.
“Slick” Rick Whalen was everywhere.
Ken Cool reached base three times.

Two wins in two hours is a new Ducks record.

the last time we were supposed to play the ‘Dors, God tried to wipe Etna off the face of the earth with repeated dispersion of lightning bolts and torrential rain, leading to a cancellation and subsequent rescheduling for today.
All of the sudden we have a shit load of games in the next two weeks.
The Hurricanes only losses have come in the division, bummer for them.
The Bulldogs can clinch the Campbell Conference with a win over the Canes, or a win over the Warriors and another Canes division loss.
The Comment section has been mud. Here are the power rankings as of July 1st.
Bulldogs (14-2)
Hurricanes (13-3)
Ducks (11-5)
Black Sox (9-5)
Matadors (8-7)
Militia (10-6)
Big Oil (crazy!)
Warriors (5-9)
Maulers ( 8-9)
Eagles (4-12)
Knights
Titans
Notthing to controversial there actually, but whatever. The Warriors are struggling which surprises me. Now way should the OIlers be playing down. The Ducks blog likes the Maulers to come out of A. The Bulldogs have the inside track to hold off the defending champs out west.
South Oakland still has four division games remaining against the Militia (2) Sox, and Eagles. One Ducks win over the militia, and one over the Black Sox will clinch the division. The score from last nights Sox Eagles game has not been posted.
