Ducks Shutout Express, 7-0

2011 Ducks Baseball

I don’t have Fago’s pitching line, but i think he only allowed three hits and recorded at least 10 ks.

He also went 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 doubles.

Rob Cool went 1 for 1 with 3 walks.

Baumgartel and Lipp also doubled.

Every Duck reached base at least once.

A couple base running errors  kept the game from becoming a complete laugher.

The Express didn’t advance a runner past second.

Ducks catcher, Brendan Scioscia threw out two runners

South Oakland of the North Side (3-2, 1-1) takes a 3-game winning streak into Wednsday’s game against Cranberry, before a big time double header against the Militia in Woodland Hills Sunday morning.

Gameday [5] Ducks vs. Express

2011 Ducks Baseball

South Oakland Ducks of the North Side

vs

Carrick Express

9pm

Springview Field

The Express have played some good teams tough despite a poor overall record.

They beat us last year as the Maulers.

Another singular noun team name. The train that goes from point a to point b without stopping. OK. That works I guess.

Also a pants company for women.

South Oakland looks to win three straight tonight and even our record in the division.

This is a huge early season game, we can’t fall 2 back of Elliot and the Militia.

Bad News for the Express

Gameday [3] Ducks at Hurricanes

2011 Ducks Baseball

Ducks

at

Hurricanes

5:30pm

Pie Traynor Field, North Park

The 2009 and  2010 league champions square off at a neutral site this evening, in the first of three games in five days.

We’re looking to get back into the swing of things here with a victory over a tough opponent.

South Oakland lost the last two meetings to the Hurricanes by a combined 75 runs or something.

Judging by the standings, both teams are limping out of the gate a bit.

Finally some sunshine. Hopefully monsoon season is over.

I’ll miss this one due to graduation.  After tonight, I’ll be a master, so says my degree. This means I’ll be one of the most educated food service workers in the city.

Fago’s running the show tonight.

Guthrie made it out of San Francisco alive.

Bad News for the Hurricanes.

Quack.

Tuesday Morning Now…

2011 Ducks Baseball

Seriously, all this rain is a joke.

The defending league champion South Oakland Ducks, have had seven rainouts and two losses a month into the season.

Not the start we were looking for.

After our inevitable 10th rainout against the Rebels scheduled for Wed the 18th, at Springview Field,

we have two non-conference games:

Saturday’s game against the Hurricanes is at 5:30pm

Then we play the Warriors Sunday at 3pm

both games are at Pie Traynor Field in North Park

Weekend Rain Outs

2011 Ducks Baseball

The South Oakland Ducks of the North Side saw two more games washed out this weekend bringing the Ducks rainout total to 7.

Our next scheduled game is a rematch against the Militia Wed, 9pm at Springview Field.

South Oakland’s game against the Hurricanes is set for Saturday 5/21 at 5pm at Pie Traynor, I think the schedule says noon.

Ducks Lose

2011 Ducks Baseball

South Oakland dropped to 0-2 after losing 7-2 to the Militia on Wednsday night.

The Militia’s starter threw well, and South Oakland gave up too many walks and had some shaky defensive plays as well.

The Ducks only had one hit through five innings.

It’s all about peaking at the right time.

No panic here.

Jeremy Barchie: player of the game.

Gameday [2] Ducks vs. Militia

2011 Ducks Baseball, Gameday

South Oakland Ducks of the North Side (0-1)

vs.

Monroeville Militia (2-1)

Springview Field

9pm

The Ducks look to rebound form an opening day beating at the sweaty hands of the bulldogs as the college kids come home to do laundry, get a free meal and hit doubles.

So far this season, the Militia robbed the pony express and, naturally, took out the senators who, allegedly continue to misrepresent the populous and take away our civil liberties, right? well shit. This is America. The Senators appear to be the league whipping boy this year, the royal whipping boy, which is the origin of the term I think, a royal one. Anyway,  Monroeville looks to continue the hostile takeover, but will be without their best player tonight, and face a rejuvenated Ducks team looking to make history as the first repeat champs this season.

One game at a time.

Baconator vs. the Militia’s new recruit who replaced NABA legend Jeremy Barchie in the rotation.

Jeremy Barchie is coming out of retirement again

South Oakland will be without Guthrie and Nick Berdine who is still looking for the bat he threw in the woods behind Moore Park last season, so it looks like I’ll get to play tonight.

The battle for the Patrick Division starts tonight for South Oakland.

Bad News for the Militia

Quack.

Ducks Set to Open Season Tomorrow vs. Militia

2011 Ducks Baseball

With tomorrows home game vs. the Militia, South Oakland (0-1) starts a stretch of 4 games in 7 days.

The Ducks face Elliot Saturday, t the West Side Sharks on Sunday, and the Militia again next Wed.

the Militia lacked pitching depth last year, I’m sure they addressed that in the offseason.

Should be interesting.

South Oakland returns basically the same team as last year, with the addition of pitchers, Garret Mack and the reacquisition of 2009 Duck, Mike Fletcher.

Last season we took a couple games to adjust to an overhauled roster, and started 4-6. This year we’ll have that continuity and chemistry at the start, and look to get out of the gate quicker.

In other news, James Fago will join the coaching staff this season and take over as manager in 2012.
