Ducks Lose, 13-3

2011 Ducks Baseball

South Oakland led 3-0 going into the bottom of the 5th, when Elliot scored 11 runs off a depleted bullpen.

We just ran out of pitching, and kicked it around a bit.

Elliot finished us off with two more runs in the bottom of the 6th.

Words can’t express how thrilled I am to be done managing.

It was an honor to be able to contribute to a team with so much talent, and hope to be able to continue to produce and play for the Ducks.

Team awards:

MVP: Jim Teyssier

Offensive player of the year: Mike Cinefra

Defensive player of the year: Anthony Defilippo

Thanks everyone for a great season, and thanks for reading.

We’ll get ’em next summer.

South Oakland Ducks of the North Side

Elliot

Pittsburgh NABA Finals

Woodland Hills High School

Game 1 3pm

Game 2 5:30pm

lets get two in a row

We have a chance to prove ourselves against the only team we couldn’t beat during the regular season.

Last year it was finally over coming the black sox, now we can win an unprecedented second straight and third overall title.

All I’ve asked for as a manager is that we maintain the identity of a gritty, blue-collar team, regardless of how much talent we bring on.

As far as I can tell we’ve done that.

Bad News for Elliot

Games 1 & 2 set to start Saturday 3pm, Woodland Hills.

2011 Ducks Baseball, Duckz, pittsburgh NABA

I’m sure right now fago is getting the rest of our stats up.

The Ducks have been part of the league since ’03, and now, the two shitty years in ’06 and ’07 are the odd ones out, as we’ve posted a winning record for four straight seasons.

Our empire is so strong we absorbed the Owlz, the only team to finish a regular season with a better record than Elliot’s 22-2 or whatever they went this year, in their first season in the league.

We’ll have a chance to be the first  team to repeat. I’m not sure anyone has appeared in two consecutive finals. Whatever, maybe the Warriors back in the day, or the Black Sox, maybe?

I’m pulling the for the Warriors in the Baseball Sub-division Championship series.

We’re Going to the ‘Ship: Ducks Win 2-0, Sweep Bulldogs

Ducks win

Jim Teyssier pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 9, while allowing just 3 hits and walking 2.

South Oakland scored its first run with two out in the bottom of the second, on three straight singels by Baumgartel, Smith and Gwin.

The Bulldogs left two men on base in the top of the third and would not threaten again.

In the bottom of the fourth, Fago walked, and pinch runner Tim Lipp stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error; he scored on Nick Berdine’s rbi single to left.

The Ducks will face Elliot in the finals on Saturday time and place to be determined.

Ducks 6, Bulldogs 2

James Fago pitched six strong innings, and James Teyssier earned the save in relief as the Ducks took a 1-0 series lead over the Bulldogs.

If our stats were up, Mike Cinefra would be putting up MVP numbers. In today’s game, he stole four bases, scored twice and drove in a run for South Oakland.

The Bulldogs were short-handed and threw the ball around a little.

Mike Martin made two spectacular catches in left for the Bulldogs.

For the Ducks, DeFilippo drove in two runs. In the second, Gwin stole third and scored after the catcher threw the ball into center field on an attempted pick off. Rob Cool singled and scored as well.

The Ducks have outscored their opponents 33-2 this post season and have allowed 1 earned run in four games.

***

The Militia upset Elliot 5-4, once again winning in dramatic fashion, scoring the go ahead run in the top of the 8th after Wes White of Elliot made some rediculous play in shallow left to save a run.

Elliot and the Militia will finish their series tomorrow before the start of game 2 of the Ducks, Bulldogs series.

Playoff Gameday [3] Ducks at Bulldogs

South Oakland Ducks of the North Side

at

North Boro Bulldogs

2pm, John Herb Field

We’ll get the Bulldogs ace today, and they will be well rested.

If we can put up 7 on Rafalski without Cinefra or Scioscia in the lineup, we should come in to this one confident we can put up runs on anyone.

Sources say Mike Martin will be in the lineup for North Boro.

The Bulldogs are still looking for the first playoff win in franchise history.

Defending champ, South Oakland has won 7 straight post season games.

Fago is on the hill today.

Bad News for the Bulldogs

Semifinal Schedule Released

2011 Ducks Baseball

Ducks vs. Bulldogs

League Semifinals.

Game 1: Saturday 7/30 John Herb Field 2pm

Game 2: Sun 7/31 Woodland Hills High School 3pm

Game 3 (if necesary): Sun 7/31 Woodland Hills High School 5:3o pm

This will be the first ever post-season meeing between the Ducks and Bulldogs. Despite a dominant regular season winning percentage over the last several seasons, the Bulldogs are still in search of their first playoff victory.

On the other side of the bracket,

Jeremy Barchie leads a resurgent Monroeville Militia team against Elliot.

The Militia have come from behind to win to close games in the playoffs thanks to Barchie’s veteran leadership, and John Tremmel (sp.) being a beast.

Congrats to the Express on a strong showing in the playoffs after winning only 6 games in the regular season.

The Express upset the 4 seed Black Sox and nearly took out the Militia last Sunday, losing 6-4 or something close after leading for most of the game.

My one beef with the commisioner is that we haven’t recieved our championship t shirts from last year’s championship, nor was the trophy allowed to sit in Guthrie’s living room all summer.

South Oakland has defeated the Hurricanes 1-0 twice this season.

I don’t think either team had all their starters for those two games. Certainly the last game of the year wasn’t a good gage of either team.

Whatever problems the Canes have with the league have nothing to do with us, or tonight’s game.

The Ducks will show up and play baseball.
