Ty Hronec shut down Oakmont with a complete game gem, 1ER, 3H, 3BB, 7K. Tony Casale hit a 2-run triple to put it out of reach.

James Hensel Pitched six innings, allowing 1 unearned run. Stephen Murray pitched a scoreless seventh. Everyone hit.

The Ducks open the playoffs tonight vs. the South Hills Devils. 8pm at Herschel Park.

The smart money is probably on D2 or the Bandidos to win the title, but we will be a tough out.

I broke my nose in what turned out to be a brutal loss for us against the Turtles. I’m out at least until next weekend, should we advance. This is the first time I’ve missed games due to injury in 40 years of playing baseball.

This season has been a lot of fun, hopefully we can keep it going.

South Oakland overcame an early 2-0 deficit to beat the South Side Eagles 6-2, Tuesday night in Ross Township. Ty Hronek pitched 6.2 innings, striking out 9, while allowing 3 hits and 0 walks. Anthony Defilippo put the game out of reach with a 3-run double in the sixth. Defilippo leads the league with 10 doubles.

With five games left, South Oakland (8-11) is in a 3-team race for fourth place with the Devils (8-11) and the Eagles (7-11).

The Ducks next game is Friday night, 8pm, at Herschel Park vs the South Hills Devils.
