South Oakland Looks to Sweep Brookline for The First Time in team History

League Champion South Oakland Ducks

We’ve never finished the regular season with a better record than Kenny Powers and the Sox.

A win Saturday will assure that and all but clinch us the 3 seed in the end of season tournament.

Now some extended East Bound and Down highlights.

Quack.

Ducks 11, Black Sox 0

2011 Ducks Baseball, pittsburgh NABA, South Oakland Ducks Baseball

Batting in the ninth spot in the order, Rob Cool went 2 for 3 with 2HR and 7RBI, including a walk off grand slam, in one of the most impressive single game offensive performance in the wood bat era for South Oakland.

James Teyssier pitched a 2-hit shutout as the South Oakland Ducks of the North Side played an error-free game and beat the Brookline Black Sox 11-0 at Springview last night.

Baumgartel, Berdine, Fago and Gwin also drove in runs for the Ducks.

This marks the first time South Oakland has won the season series with the Black Sox, the first time the Ducks have ten-runned the Sox, and the first time South Oakland has shutout Brookline in consecutive games, both by Teyssier.

The Ducks wrap up the season series against the Black Sox again, Saturday July 16th at Moore Park.

Over the weekend, the Ducks defeated the Devils 3-0 at Pie Traynor.

Brendan Scioscia was 3 for 3 and James Fago drove in the winning run with a 2-run triple.

The Devils have the pitching to play in AA, and probably shouldn’t be playing down.

the Ducks have posted three straight shutouts and have allowed 2 runs in the last five games.

Gameday [9] Ducks vs. Bulldogs

2011 Ducks Baseball, Bulldogs

South Oakland Ducks of the North Side (6-2)

vs.

Pittsburgh Bulldogs (9-3)

9pm

Springview Field.

South Oakland looks to overcome and early season defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs who couldn’t even do us the courtesy of beating the Black Sox last Saturday.

Thanks guys. Way to be even more hungover at 8:30 am on saturday morning than the Black Sox.

Ducks’ utility player and third base coach, Rick Whalen was hospitalized during the first matchup between the Ducks and Bulldogs, but figures to factor in to tonight’s game in some manner.

Coming in to tonight’s matchup, South Oakland is riding a six-game win streak while the Bulldogs have won nine of ten.

The biggest difference between these two teams over the past four seasons has been playoff success. Since TC took over and then relinquished the manager’s position for South Oakland, the Ducks have won a title and advanced to the conference semi’s for a 6-1-1 playoff record. The Bulldogs can’t make it out of the first round.

Maybe we’ll get our championship t-shirts tonight from the commish?

and where’s my trophy?

I wonder if Flip’s buddy still catches for them?

This blog has turned to crap. However,  the Bulldogs blog has proven to be even more racially insensitive and  hedonistic than Fred Phelps reading from a public high school history book in a battered women’s shelter, wearing a bathrobe made out of  Hustler back issues.

(I’m going the clothes made out of magazines route, it’s getting bad over here. Go read the bulldogs blog.)

Fightin’ words.

“I wanted to destroy something beautiful.”

Bad News for the Bulldogs

Ducks Notch Fourth Straight Victory

2011 Ducks Baseball

South Oakland of the North Side (4-2, 1,1) beat Cranberry 13-6 in Springview last night in front of an offended crowd of 3.

The hilights of the game were Rick Whalen’s sweet double off the wall in left, and Duffy’s blistering single down the 3rd baseline.

Mike Fletcher recorded the win, allowing 1ER over 3 innings.

Fago was a double and a homerun short of the cycle.

Cinefra hit a triple, I don’t think I’ve seen 2 legit triples in the same game at Spring Hill ever.

DeFilippo had infinity RBI

More doubles were hit by Ken Cool, DeFilippo,  Cinefra, and Gwin, marking the first time Whalen and Gwin recorded extra base hits in the same game for the Ducks since Ken Cool was in elementary school.

Rob Cool reached base four times.

The game ended on a fantastic catch by 1b Nick Berdine

Big double header against the Militiaon Sunday.

We can almost knock them out of the division race if we sweep, thanks to Monroeville losing twice to Elliot last week.

I don’t think Elliot has lost yet.

The blog has been garbage lately and we don’t even have our stats up, the latter is certainly uncharacteristic for us and management is on it.

Acknowledging the problem is the first step.

Gameday [3] Ducks at Hurricanes

2011 Ducks Baseball

Ducks

at

Hurricanes

5:30pm

Pie Traynor Field, North Park

The 2009 and  2010 league champions square off at a neutral site this evening, in the first of three games in five days.

We’re looking to get back into the swing of things here with a victory over a tough opponent.

South Oakland lost the last two meetings to the Hurricanes by a combined 75 runs or something.

Judging by the standings, both teams are limping out of the gate a bit.

Finally some sunshine. Hopefully monsoon season is over.

I’ll miss this one due to graduation.  After tonight, I’ll be a master, so says my degree. This means I’ll be one of the most educated food service workers in the city.

Fago’s running the show tonight.

Guthrie made it out of San Francisco alive.

Bad News for the Hurricanes.

Gameday [2] Ducks vs. Militia

2011 Ducks Baseball, Gameday

South Oakland Ducks of the North Side (0-1)

vs.

Monroeville Militia (2-1)

Springview Field

9pm

The Ducks look to rebound form an opening day beating at the sweaty hands of the bulldogs as the college kids come home to do laundry, get a free meal and hit doubles.

So far this season, the Militia robbed the pony express and, naturally, took out the senators who, allegedly continue to misrepresent the populous and take away our civil liberties, right? well shit. This is America. The Senators appear to be the league whipping boy this year, the royal whipping boy, which is the origin of the term I think, a royal one. Anyway,  Monroeville looks to continue the hostile takeover, but will be without their best player tonight, and face a rejuvenated Ducks team looking to make history as the first repeat champs this season.

One game at a time.

Baconator vs. the Militia’s new recruit who replaced NABA legend Jeremy Barchie in the rotation.

Jeremy Barchie is coming out of retirement again

South Oakland will be without Guthrie and Nick Berdine who is still looking for the bat he threw in the woods behind Moore Park last season, so it looks like I’ll get to play tonight.

The battle for the Patrick Division starts tonight for South Oakland.

Bad News for the Militia

Ducks Set to Open Season Saturday

2011 Ducks Baseball

South Oakland (0-0) will face the Bulldogs (0-1)

Saturday at 8:30am at John Herb Field.

We’re using our September call-ups in May to fill out our lineup while we wait for the college kids to show up.

The Bulldogs are gonna be tough to beat this year and will give the Fightin’s all they can handle in the Norris Division.

They’re my sleeper pick to win it all in a league exactly like ours but without Ducks.

With three games in three days, the Ducks look to get in shape and discover hidden pitching talent before Patrick Division play starts on May 7th with a game against the Pony Express.

We’re returning all our starters from our championship team, and have a couple new guys I haven’t met or seen play.

That’s about as good of a preview as I can offer right now.

Jesse Smith is a beast.

Quack.

Gameday [1] Ducks vs. Eagles

2011 Ducks Baseball, pittsburgh NABA, South Oakland Ducks Baseball

South Oakland Ducks of the North Side

vs.

South Side Eagles

9 pm Springview Field

This will be only the 4th game of the season league-wide if we play, and  there’s still plenty of time for it to rain.

Its been all down hill for South Side since they lost that lefty short stop, or quit playing him there or whatever.

We will probably get Adam Smith on the mound.

We’re rolling with 8 guys and an actual duck until sometime between the 7th-12th of May.

Bad News for the Eagles.

PGH NABA News: Peter “Pan” Chalfin Perfect in B-Sox Home Opener vs. Express. Ducks Coach Spends Evening Polishing Trophy.

2011 Ducks Baseball, League Champion South Oakland Ducks

Pitching for the first time since he lost to Guthrie and the Ducks in the 2010 Championship, Pete Chalfin tossed a perfect game against the Express Thursday night at Moore Park.

Brookline wins 6-0, and move to 1-0 in the Patrick Division.

Kenny Powers is pumped.

The Express did not reach first base Thursday.
