UncategorizedI think this would make a great gift for some lucky lady.
Ducks, starting this weekend we will practice sundays at 1:30.
That’s the only time i will definitely have free every week until school is over April 23rd.
The roster is just about set. We will compete for the title this year. So much for in-depth team previews i have had no time. Unless someone else with admin access wants to do it or someone wants to email me something, that may not happen until the season is already under way, which might help in the accuracy department. Although I don’t even know what teams are in the league right now.
briefly
the militia will be good, but underachieve.
the Black Sox will be the best team on paper and win lots of games. there will be a fight in the stands when they play the hurricanes.
the eagles will finish under .500 Smith will get plenty of playing time – i wish him success against everyone but us.
I think we’ll have a new team in our division who will probably be better than the new team in the other division.
cranberry will be good.
the bulldogs will win the regular season title in the other division
the warriors will beat them in the playoffs
the hurricanes won’t repeat
the bombers might fold and join the militia.
there will be some new teams with awesome aggressive nick names.
feel free to elaborate.
The Ducks will be better than last season.
this could be the year we get back to the conference finals. I want to beat the black sox on the way to the championship. that is our goal. Let’s not count chickens yet.
Business:
Dues will be $200 plus plus the cost of hats, which i am in the process of figuring out. That includes umpire fees so we won’t have to pass the hat before games.
I need your money by April 3rd. and the hat money by the beginning of the season.
The schedule will be released on march 28th
I will sit guys if they aren’t paid by the time the season starts. which will be shortly after the 3rd. There’s no one on the roster who will hurt us if they’re in the lineup, we have plenty of depth on the bench. I don’t think I’m even a starter at this point.
It is starting to get warm out.

Well this Saturday is one of the greatest holidays ever, second only to St. Patrick’s Day. Christmas sucks and Thanksgiving is OK (the day before it is better). In order to better prepare you for this Saturday, I’ve decided to compile a list of things you will definitely see.
1. Celtic Dancers
These magical ladies are the equivalent to a prostitute on Valentine’s Day, the holiday is just not the same without them. Unlike hookers, these ladies have class, are better dancers, and can definitely handle their alcohol. My only hope is that the rain doesn’t scare them away this Saturday. On second thought… maybe a little rain would be a good thing.
2. Green Beer
Damn whoever thought green beer would be a good idea. The last thing I need on the all day hangover that is the day after St. Patrick’s Day Parade Day is having to call my super because there is a lime green substance overflowing out of my toilet.
3. Market Square
O wait no you won’t. Screw you Luke Ravenstahl.
4. Some douchebag telling everyone how he is Irish
Listen, we all know you think your Irish, your t-shirt says so. Try going to Ireland and telling them your Irish, you’ll have a bigger problem than my bathroom will have Sunday morning. Just because someone in your family moved to the New World 5 generations ago doesn’t make you Irish. Your American douchebag.
5. A family friendly parade.
The managers of the Pittsburgh NABA met today for the third time this season at the Rochester Inn. Some light has been shed on the structure of the Rookie League.
You gotta check out this website, EvilPitt.com. Who knew Roc was responsible for so much wrong doing.
DUCKS! Click on this link and print out the document. Fill it out and send it with your checks to:
If you have already sent your deposit then don’t worry about it, we will have you fill it out at the first practice.
I think you can fill it out and email it as an attachment, I don’t know. I’m still a bit behind as i jumped in late on the managing boat this season…
New Team name Idea – The Dormont Danger Mice
The Ducks will lose 13 players from last year’s team that went 16-8, and finished with the 3rd best regular season record in the league. We’ve added six new players, all of whom figure to make significant contributions.
I have no idea what is going on with the rest of the league except that the Black Sox have gotten better on paper at least, and are the favorites to take the title this year, despite the Fightin’s having beaten them last season in the finals.
I think the Militia will enter the conversation at the top of the Wales Conference. I’m goins to miss having the Gray Bats to kick around this season, and the Rebels, who were the greatest thing to happen to this blog. they’ve merged so they should lead to some solid, intellectual baseball talk about their squad.
Adam Smith went to a division opponent, the Eagles, which is weird. He is the Ducks all-time leader in wins and loses. Homa has a chance to go ahead in the wins column this season, actually Guthrie might as well, I didn’t really keep stats back then because we sucked for two and a half seasons.
There has never been a repeat champion in the Pittsburgh NABA.
I have the idea that to win at baseball you don’t just need the best 24 guys, you need players to fill specific roles and to do well in those roles. But fuck, the last time i coached a team we went 8-16 and i wanted to slit my wrists. Then McCray and TC joined the team and we were on our way back into relevance.
this post is terrible. Division previews on the way, they will be completely fabricated since i have no idea who is playing where.
At least I can count on Kenny Powers to give me a solid paragraph or two on the SOx.
Since 2003,

Edit City…You can’t be afraid of a major re-write
Jesse Smith and Andrew McCray will captain this year’s team. They will be in charge when I’m working or whatever. I’m looking for them to be more vocal this season.
After today’s team meeting the South Oaklamd Ducks officially welcome three members of last year’s Wales Conference regular season champions: Rob Cool (OF), Anthony Defilippo (inf.), and Brendan Scioscia (C). This basically rounds out our roster pending late withdraws and Jesse Smith’s buddies from fall ball getting their money in by the end of the month.
The Black Sox rivalry has risen to a new level with this move.
Depo will have a recap of the league meeting tomorrow.
Quack.
Ducks, Saturday March 6th 3PM at Ritters Diner in Bloomfield (On Baum near the Boston Market and the Taco Bell-which i think has been closed by the health dept.) We will have a mandatory team meeting for returning players.
Mandatory in that if you want your voice heard in team decisions as far as uni’s and other administrative front office type stuff you should attend.
I’m doing my best to line things up for us to make a push for the title but i don’t want to run this team like a fascist regime, so please attend. it’s important.
If i haven’t heard from you about playing this summer by then i will assume you are running away to join the texas rangers or something.
Bring outstanding league dues. I need $100 from everyone by the 16th of march
Ryan Miller is a beast.
Ducks, send me your money, address below.

We’re gonna have some turnover this season as Ducks leave Pitt for greener pastures.
we will have some new faces:
Kirk’s brother, three kids from Jesse’s fall ball team, and a few friends of mine.
I’m not posting any firm roster news until guys are paid.

Were pretty much set for new players, but there is room for any returning Duck who wants to play.
Since everyone makes the playoffs, we look to split playing time as equally as possible while making sure we put guys in position to succeed and playing to our respective strengths. I, for instance, will not play shortstop or pitch, unless the Gray Bats reform and I’m dying to take the hill.
We’ve got depth.
Anyway
I’m pumped to be behind the wheel again.
TC retires as the most successful Ducks coach in history, and has effectively turned our team back into a winner. I have a tough act to follow.
2010 Previews to appear over spring break in March.
league managers are welcome to send me anything they’d like posted about their squads so I can take it out of context and turn it into bulletin board material.
Quack.
