Wendsday 9pm, Springview Field Ducks vs. Militia

pittsburgh NABA, South Oakland Ducks Baseball

I haven’t posted a traditionall gameday post and now is clearly not the time to start.

I don’t think anyone in the league is upset the Canes lost, except the Canes, obviously.

It’s too bad TC, Homa, and Guthrie can’t make it tomorrow.

It’s too bad Swanger and Oliver and Faust and Swetz and a whole flock of good ball players who suffered through some shitty times with this team can’t be a part of the first semifinal in six years featuring the South Oakland Ducks.

We’ve got one game between us and the championship series.

The Militia are an elite team, and we haven’t seen them at their best.

But if we go into it with the right mindset, there’s no way we lose tonight.

I’m sure they feel the same way.

It should be one for the ages.

TC Jones number 17 is now retired.

Without Jones, we don’t have the chance to play for a spot in the finals tonight.

If he didn’t bring in the guys he did: Guthrie, Homa, Wojton, Jesse Smith (who brought in Cinefra), McCray (who brought us up to Erie where we played with Fago for he first time and we fell in love – collectively and in only a mildly and subtly gay manner), Novak, Coby, etc… Then we don’t win thirty games in two years, and if we’re not already a winning team going into last off-season, we don’t add the Cools, Tessyier, Flip, Scioscia, Harsh (who brought in Tim Lipp), Berdine and his crazy bat in woods antics and homerun power, Baumgartel who helped lead us through the first third of the season and is absolutly raking in the post season.

If not for Dr. Jones running into me at the pitt im fields,  this team probably disbands after ’07.

Thanks, TC.

Bad News for the Militia.

Ducks win 11-3. Militia defeat HURRICANES!!! in Extras: Matchup Wednsday

Ducks win, pittsburgh NABA, who names their team the Rebels?

Our Game is Wednesday at 9pm at SpringView, not Monday as I originally thought.

This is the first time South Oakland has reached the league semifinals since 2004.

Congrats to the Militia for running over the Canes.

Barchie is a beast.

guest post from militia55 on the way

Tessyier No-Hits Knights, Ducks Win 14-0

Ducks win, pittsburgh NABA, South Oakland Ducks Baseball

James Tessyier allowed two base runners on walks, South Oakland hit three inside the park home runs (Casale, Gwin, Cinefra) in the span of four batters in the bottom of the third inning to put the game out of reach.

Nick Berdine’s diving catch in the top of the first saved Tessyier’s no-hit bid.

Anthony Defilippo went 4 for 4 with a double.

I don’t have the book in front of me everyone hit well.

Fago hit a double, Berdine hit a single to the wall in left and Ken Cool’s knowledge of the LaRoche College field gave South Oakland the edge they needed to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

Full recap to follow.

South Oakland plays the Maulers at 3pm tomorrow at LaRoche College Field

Quack.

Kenny Powers is a Champion…

pittsburgh NABA, South Oakland Ducks Baseball

An AA division regular season champion anyway, the Sox earned the one seed sweeping the HURRICANES! 2 games to 0, at Spring View.

Sox won game 1, 3-2 and game 2, 6-3.

Kenny Powers hit a game winning home run of Rafalski  in the 8th inning of game 1.

The Hurricanes are in the Ducks bracket. They will play the Militia in the quarterfinals unless something goes terribly wrong and the Titans upset Michigan.

The Ducks could play the Hurricanes in the semi finals if South Oakland beats the Knights and the Maulers over the weekend.

Playoffs

pittsburgh NABA, South Oakland Ducks Baseball

South Oakland opens the playoffs against the Knights Saturday, 9am at Laroche College.

The winner of that game will play the Maulers Sunday August 1st at 3pm.

The winner of the Maulers game plays in the semifinals at the Duck Pond, Monday night at 9pm.

There’s a big opportunity to play on our home field with a shot at the title on the line.

We will not take the Knights lightly.

The Maulers are solid as well, and have played us close in two games this season and beat us in April.

Our team was built for playoff success, but anything can happen in the single elimination rounds.

Quack.

Ducks Sweep Militia

Ducks win, pittsburgh NABA, South Oakland Ducks Baseball

South Oakland (18-6) defeats division rival Michigan Militia(13-9), 5-3, and 11-2.

South Oakland sets a record for wins in a season with the sweep.

probably not recapping this.

Ducks pitching was fantastic – Baconator, Mike Cinefra, James Tessyier, and Mark Guthrie combined to allow very few runs on the day.

Stats will be updated soon.

former Duck, Jeremy Barchie played a phenomenal center field for Michigan.

playoff schedule to be released shortly.

Be ready to play Saturday morning.

The Ducks will scrimmage Elliot of the Fed League Wednesday, 7pm at Herschel Field in Greentree.

Congrats to the Maulers on winning the A division regular season title.

quack.

Gameday 23/24: Ducks at Militia

Gameday, pittsburgh NABA, South Oakland Ducks Baseball

South Oakland Ducks at Michigan Militia

The 5-12 seeds are set for the playoffs.

The Hurricanes won their division, and the Bulldogs clinched the five seed with a win over the Warriors Thursday.

The Ducks are the sixth seed, and the Militia are the seventh seed.

This could be a semi-final preview today.

The Ducks won’t face an AA opponent till the semis should we get past the Titans in round 1 and the Maulers/Oilers in round 2.

A win today will set a new Ducks record for regular season victories, eclipsing last year’s total of 16.

The Bulldogs are ranked fifth and will potentially play the Hurricanes again should the Canes beat the Black Sox two of three, which, given Alex Warren’s injury, i may happen.

Kenny Powers deserves MVP consideration.

For South Oakland Rob Cool has put up unreal offensive numbers after a slow start and has solidified the outfield.

Good coaching is responsible, clearly.

Rob Cool and Jimmy Fago, just chillin'

Tessyier is my pick for pitcher of the year, he only pitched against our toughest opponents down the stretch and shut down everyone.

He allowed one earned run in eleven innings vs. the Black Sox this season.

Obviously, Ken Cool for coach of the year.

Bad News for the Militia.

Quack.

the above link is also in the handouts section on the main site.

Seeds 5-10 determined by overall record among “AA” teams. Seeds 11&12 determined by overall record among “A” teams. -except the Eagles are now ranked 12 and are eliminated from playoff contention.

Something tells me the Warriors may have forfeitted too many games also, so who knows with that.

Seeds 1-4 are the AA champ and runner up, then the A champ and runner up.

the Ducks are 10-5 vs. AA teams, losses to the Sox, Canes (2) and Bulldogs the Bulldogs (10-3) lost to the Canes today.  the bulldogs play one more game against the maulers so they are done as far as AA games go i think.  We have them 20-11 in the net.

would you rather play the A champ in round 2 and the AA runner-up as the six seed, or the A runner up in rd. 2 and then the AA champ in the semis as the five seed?

the Militia are 6-6 in AA play, over half their wins are against A teams. They are set in the seven spot according to the disclaimer at the bottom of the bracket i copied above.

8-11: Warriors, Matadors, Titans, Knights, and the Eagles are still ineligible.

The Eagles franchise is a disgrace to baseball at any level. They are compromising the whole playoff format and i feel bad for the few guys on that team who give a shit about baseball.

there could be an interesting match  up in the 7-10 seed game if its Militia vs. Matadors, but then that might be militia vs. Titans since the eagles folded.

there could also be a Bulldogs Oilers matchup in the 6-4 second round game.

The Maulers overtook Big Oil for the AA regular season title.

fucking cheaters.

what a mess.

anyway, it’d be great to beat the Hurricanes and the Sox on the way to the championship, which is what we will probably have to do.

The road to the semis is wide open and I like our pitching depth against anyone’s.

we can’t finish worse than the six seed.

The eagles are ineligible. Adam Smith appeared in 15 games for the Ducks last season pitching 47 innings (team high for innings pitched). for a team that went 16-8. this season the Eagles only played 15 games total thanks to forfeits and Smith missed at least four games, so that leaves 11 games or 77 innings (not counting ten-run rule games) which is 12 more than Adam played last season.

So, Adam left a top-three team to play approximately half an inning more per game over a stupid resentment against one of the most likable guys in the league, TC Jones. Great decision, enjoy not having to be embarrassed in the playoffs.

Really only five teams have a shot at it, so it’s kind of like the majors in that respect. It’s nice to be one of those five teams.

quack.
